My "eye-popping" video

Hi everyone
Here is my "eye-popping" video.  Sorry for the scary eyes at the beginning, guess we don't realize some of the silly faces we make when we speak until we video tape ourselves.   Anyway, after being out of school for a week with, I guess, the flu or something I was greeted by some of my students with this adorable card and a basket full of feel-better goodies like soup and jello and oranges and granola bars.  It doesn't get any sweeter than that.  I was so moved.  I hope that you enjoy it and that it encourages some of you who have yet to experience becoming significant to these great little people.  Enjoy!
Shari

  1. Loved it! It's great to see you again Shari! I think we're SOOOOO much harder on ourselves than others are because I think your video is great. Adorable card, too. Sometimes teaching touches your heart like nothing else! Glad you're feeling better too.

  2. Hi Shari--I agree that sometimes the little things your students do make the job so rewarding. I, too, feel awful and am home sick today to see a doctor. Not sure if it's allergies or a cold, but I think I have a sinus infection. Everyone you talk to is either feeling sick, or has a family member who is. Hope you're feeling much better! Eileen

  3. You look wonderful Sahri. I am happy you are feeling better. We have terrible strep going around and I have 2 kids home with antibiotics. my son Daniel has had strep 3 times in a row, basically the entire year so far. This is his 3rd antiobiotic. I hope this wipes it out! Good job on your video. I hope to get my working soon.

  4. Hope your feeling better. I love the card the students made. The only thing I get when I'm out is, "When are you coming back? We hate the sub" or a list of names who decided to act like fools (7th grade). Feel better!

  5. OHHHHHHH 7th grade...yeah, they can be tricky. I'm lucky enough to have them from pre k all the way up through 8th so I get to witness that process when some of them "change over" and say things like, "you never used to be like that". Of all the grades 7th is probably the most challenging. It's just a very awkward time in their lives and they seem to take it all out on the adults (and their younger siblings). They'll come back and thank you when they get out there in the world of High School and they realize how great you were and how little they showed their appreciation for you. Hang in :)

  6. Hey Shari,
Great Video. I am looking for to teaching mainly for that reason. Even though the profession can be very challenging at times, small thoughtful things like that make it so much more rewarding. Nice to see that your students love you as a teacher! Hope you're feeling better.

  7. Hi again Shari-- I'm surprised you could hear me call the turtle Krispy. My older son brought him home from college about 5 years ago, and I inherited him. He only likes meat, no fruit or veggies. His current diet is small scallops. He is spoiled. Eileen
